This chapter critically examines the role of infrastructure development in enhancing effective service delivery in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Infrastructure is recognized as a fundamental pillar of tertiary education, encompassing academic facilities, administrative systems, residential and social amenities, technological resources, and essential campus utilities. The chapter highlights the direct link between well-developed infrastructure and the quality of teaching, learning, research, administration, and student welfare. Adequate infrastructure facilitates modern pedagogical practices, promotes research and innovation, improves administrative efficiency, expands access to education, and enhances the integration of technology in academic and non-academic processes. The chapter further explores how infrastructure contributes to staff and student well-being, institutional reputation, and competitiveness, all of which are critical for national development. Through a detailed discussion of challenges, including funding gaps, poor maintenance, rapid student population growth, and inadequate planning, the chapter emphasizes the need for strategic investments and policy support. It concludes that infrastructure development is not merely a physical requirement but a strategic necessity for effective service delivery, institutional performance, and the broader socio-economic transformation of Nigeria.
